For faster more efficient cutting use an innovative pull saw.

Otherwise known as Japanese Pull Saws, the pull saw is a lighter and thinner alternative to western designed saws. The advantage of this design is that it takes far less effort to draw the saw back and forth through the material. These saws also have a unique tooth design that allows for much faster cutting.

The blade is very hard, so stays sharp for a very long time, ensuring you get clean and accurate cuts for much longer than from using the saw counterparts. With faster cutting and less energy required to saw as well as a long-handled design, you will have much more flexibility in cutting positions and be able to switch from one to another with ease. The long grip also accommodates both hands for a strong two-handed grip when necessary.

Pull saws come in different blade profiles, these are:

  • Ryoba – An extremely versatile blade, Ryoba-style blades have crosscutting teeth on one edge and ripping teeth on the other. The main advantage of this is the variability of cutting possibilities.
  • Dozuki – A very fine-toothed blade along one edge. Dozuki blades are ideal for use as a finely detailed tool, creating precision cuts with hardened teeth for extra strength.
  • Kataba – Has teeth along one edge that are usually available in either rip saw or cross-cutting blade style. Commonly used for larger tasks.

The only major downside to pull saws is that the blade is often not able to be replaced. This means that when it does become dull, you cannot easily replace the blade and have to rely on resharpening it.

As well as these unique Japanese pull saws, we also supply an entire range of hand tools, such as coping saws for fine carpentry work and bow saws for the maintenance of gardens. And if you’re looking for something to tackle larger projects, we have plenty of power tools to choose from.
