Microwaves can heat food quickly and efficiently and have been a staple of the home kitchen for decades. Microwave features can vary, but the most important to keep in mind is their power output. 900W tends to be the go-to for most new kitchens able to cook most food quickly and efficiently.

However, if you are only using the appliance for smaller foods (peas, beans etc) 700W or 800W models may more than meet your needs. In addition to this, the capacity of the microwave is also considered important, with some models offering as little as 20 litres worth of space while others can offer 30 litres or even more.
