Vapour Control Layer

Vapour control layers are similar to breathable roofing membranes, with the key difference being that they are positioned on the inner side of the insulation. This reduces vapour transfer within a roof space. They can come in a range of sizes, but their primary shape is rectangular. They can usually be cut to size, but this must be done properly so the layer can be securely installed and sealed, ensuring its operation.

Vapour control layers are very efficient when it comes to protecting your roof from several potential problems, including rotting timber, dampening insulation, and severe mould ingress, all of which can damage the structural integrity of your roof, as well as the whole building. Remember that these products are best installed by an established professional, as it is vital that the layer is continuous all the way along, and fully sealed at all laps if it is to work correctly.
