Add a Touch of Nature with Pine Interior Doors

A great alternative to oak, pine internal doors combine a distinctive light colour with rustic grains. This makes them a wonderful addition to light and airy spaces, whether that be a contemporary or period property. Like other solid wood doors, pine doors offer great insulation that minimises heat transfer and sound travel.

Why Pick Solid Pine Doors

Introduce Natural Tones

Few materials provide the natural and earthy tones of pine, therefore allowing you to counteract the cold aesthetic of many modern properties. Due to the unique grains and varying tones of pine doors, no two doors will be the same. Something that you’re sure to notice as you travel from room-to-room in your property.

Create a Calming Space

Doors made from pine offer superb insulation throughout your property. This will allow you to maintain a consistent and comfortable temperature by limiting heat transfer from room to room. Plus, these doors will limit the amount of sound that travels between rooms. Together this thermal and acoustic insulation allows you to create a more tranquil space.

Made to Last

Although not as hard as oak or walnut, internal pine doors are able to handle the rigors of life with them likely to outlast your time in the property. Once hung, they will become darker in colour and any graining will become more pronounced. This warmer and more characterful appearance only adds to its appeal.

A Cost-effective Option

Less costly than hardwood doors, pine is a great alternative for those who would still prefer solid wood doors. As well as being cheaper to buy, pine doors are easier to cut and shape during installation. This makes them quicker for carpenters to prepare and install, which will often result in cost savings too.

Styles of Pine Internal Doors

Boarded

Featuring boards that run the full height of your door, boarded pine doors are a popular choice. Due to the combination of a minimal design and rustic wood, they suit both new and old properties.

Panel

Typically having four rectangular panels, this design is ideal for period properties. That said, panelled pine doors can also work in contemporary properties when the tone of wood suits.

Barn

Much like cottage style doors, barn pine doors are designed for older properties. With horizontal braces spread evenly along the height of the door, they provide a uniquely rustic feel.

Caring for Internal Pine Doors

To maximise the lifespan of your pine doors, you’ll need to show them a little TLC. But don’t worry, as it’s easy by following these tips:

  • Regularly clean your pine doors to prevent a build-up of dirt and discoloration. To do this, use a damp (not wet) cloth with a small amount of mild soap.
  • If you’ve noticed mild to severe wear, you’ll want to lightly sand any affected areas before applying a wood conditioner that limits warping and splitting.
  • Ensure your doors have a varnish or polyurethane coating to regain a glossy appearance and protect from moisture.
