There are gorgeous array of finishes to choose from so you can coordinate your kitchen or bathroom design right down to the fittings.

We also stock a fantastic array of top-grade traps including bottle, S, P trap styles to accommodate a variety of different installations.

Different Types of Wastage Trap

Whilst general wastewater drains from your bath, shower or sink into the wastage pipes, sometimes other material and debris may drain away too. Wastage traps are cleverly designed to catch this excess waste material, preventing it from blocking up the pipework at any point further down the drainage system. There are a variety of different wastage trap styles, sizes, and types available:

Bottle trap

The bottle trap resembles a bottle-like shape (hence the name) and is a popular choice for basin installation. The top section of this trap secures onto the waste part of the basin whilst the side pipe is what carries waste water to join the main system. Waste material collects at the bottom of the bottle trap, so to prevent build-up, it should be emptied semi-regularly. Practical and minimal in design, the bottle trap is pretty easy to install for DIYers and fits snugly behind the sink pedestal for a clean and tidy finish.

S trap

Designed with an ‘S’ shaped bend, the S trap is another common fitting for basins and sinks. Simple to install, the top of the trap fits onto the waste pipe so that waste water can run through the bend into the main wastage stack. As the middle connector section is adjustable, with a simple twist you can install the trap into far tighter and more awkward spaces.

P trap

Combining two 90° degree joints with a horizontal overflow pipe, the P trap basically gets its name for its visual resemblance to the letter “p”. The first 90° joint is connected to the exit point of the drain and then joins to the other. This join contains a specialist water seal system which permits water flow into the overflow pipe but doesn’t allow it to flow back toward the sink. This is called back flow prevention.
