• Fiberglass Batt Insulation- This is one of the most common types of insulation and comes in rolls or batts. It's made of tiny glass fibres and is relatively easy to install between floor joists or beams. Widely used for insulating under suspended timber floors. It has good thermal performance and is cost-effective.
• Cellulose Insulation- Cellulose insulation is made from recycled paper and is treated with fire-retardant chemicals. It can be blown into floor cavities or installed as loose-fill insulation. It offers good thermal performance and is eco-friendly.
• Spray Foam Insulation- Spray foam insulation is an excellent option for insulating floors, especially in tight spaces. It can be applied as either open-cell or closed-cell foam and provides an effective air and moisture barrier. However, it can be more expensive than other insulation types.
• Rigid Foam Board Insulation- Rigid foam boards, such as extruded polystyrene (XPS) or expanded polystyrene (EPS), can be installed on the underside of the floor or between floor joists. They offer high R-values and are resistant to moisture. They are a good choice for insulating crawl spaces and basements.
• Mineral Wool Insulation- Mineral wool insulation is fire-resistant and provides good thermal and sound insulation. It's available in batts or can be blown in as loose-fill insulation.
