Brilliantly efficient, simple to operate and beautiful to look at, electric fires provide the perfect balance between warmth, aesthetics and practicality. There is a huge range of benefits to picking an electric fire including enhanced safety, lower energy costs, reduced maintenance and most importantly, far less restrictive limits in terms of installation.

Many of our electric fireplaces simply feed from an electric outlet with no requirement for a chimney or gas lines. This means you can still enjoy the cosy comfort and visual effects of a roaring fire in spaces where traditional gas or wood-burning fuels may not be suitable.

Thanks to the technical advancements of modern fireplace design, you’ll also barely even notice the difference between real flames and the stunning glowing flame produced by our impressive electric models.

Types of Electric Fires

Electric fires come in various types and styles to suit different heating needs and aesthetic preferences. Here are some common types of electric fires:

  • Inset Electric Fires: These are designed to be inserted into existing traditional fireplaces. They often include realistic flame effects and can provide supplemental heat.
  • Wall-Mounted Electric Fireplaces: These units are mounted on the wall and are available in various sizes and styles. They create a contemporary and space-saving focal point in a room.
  • Mantel Electric Fireplaces: These units combine an electric fireplace with a decorative mantel. They are often designed to resemble traditional wood-burning fireplaces and can serve as a stylish piece of furniture.
  • Electric Fireplace TV Stands: These are combination units that integrate an electric fireplace with a TV stand or media centre. They provide both warmth and entertainment in one piece of furniture.

How Much Electricity Do Electric Fireplaces Use?

The amount of electricity an electric fire uses can vary depending on several factors, including the heater's wattage, the duration it's in use, and the settings you choose. Electric fires typically have adjustable heat settings, flame effects, and in some cases, blowers or fans to distribute heat. Here are some general guidelines to help you estimate electricity consumption:

  • Wattage: The primary factor influencing electricity usage is the wattage of the electric fire. Electric fireplaces can range from as low as 750 watts to as high as 2,000 watts or more for larger units. Higher-wattage units will consume more electricity when they are operating at full power.
  • Duration of Use: The longer you run your electric fire, the more electricity it will consume. You can control the duration of use by turning it on and off as needed.
  • Heat Settings: Electric fires usually offer multiple heat settings. Lower heat settings consume less electricity compared to higher settings. If you're using the fireplace primarily for ambience and not for heating, you can use the flame effects without turning on the heater, which consumes less electricity.
  • Additional Features: Some electric fireplaces come with additional features like blowers, fans, or lighting for the flame effects. These features may add to the overall electricity consumption.
