Installed flush with the surface of the ground, ground lights provide subtle and effective illumination for a variety of garden areas. Like light spikes, they are designed with practicality in mind, though the results they offer can be extremely visually appealing.

There are a number of models to choose from, varying in power, size, and other factors. All should prove fairly durable once driven into the ground, though in some cases – where the design of the light means that it may be harder to spot when not powered – care will need to be taken to ensure the lights aren’t struck and damaged by passers-by.

Why Use Ground Lights?

Outdoor ground lights can be used for a variety of purposes including accent lighting, and these products will help a number of garden features to really stand out at dusk as well as at nighttime. Highlight buildings, plants, water features and other garden constructs with ease.

They come in a variety of colours and can be used to decorate features effectively. The most common light colours and blue and yellow, both of which wonderfully complement garden spots and features against the night sky. More lights offer greater light intensity but can look cluttered if too many are utilised. This can be avoided by purchasing more powerful ground lights.

Installing Ground Lighting

Ground lighting varies when it comes to the method of installation. Most of these products can be installed fairly easily, though in some cases they will need to be connected to mains electricity. In order to ensure such a job runs smoothly, a professional should be brought in to carry out the task.

However, many ground lights are powered in two different ways – by battery or via solar panel. These two methods of operation are much simpler, and as such installation can be far more straightforward. It will also make it easier to move and replace lights if the need arises, giving you more freedom to keep your garden ever-changing.
