There are many different types of hand saws and they all have different strengths and weaknesses, with some designed for specific tasks and others down to personal preference.
Although there are plenty of electric saws available, if you need a tool for finer detailed work or smaller DIY tasks, a hand saw will be perfect.
Carpentry tools such as tenon saws and coping saws are both great for finely detailed, controlled work. When you need to create flush joints and delicate details, these types of saw will be up to the task. Tenon saws got their name for being specially designed to create tenon joints. Because of the coping saw's deep c-shaped handle, and thin strip-like blade, you have the maximum control over creating both curved and straight cut lines.
Bow saws are ideal for anyone that needs to do some annual pruning of tree branches in their garden, or just to keep them from overtaking your entire garden! Bow saws will quickly cut through tree branches thick or thin and provide you with a pile of firewood in minutes.
For interior renovation projects, jab saws and hacksaws are the best choice. A jab saw is designed to punch into the plasterboard at any point and quickly cut coarse lines to get these boards ready for installation as quickly as possible. A hacksaw is great for cutting wooden and metal sheets for smaller DIY tasks such as repairs or less labour-intensive construction projects.
We also supply Japanese pull saws which are a great alternative to common western hand saws and cut only on the pull motion. This may take some getting used to at first, but once you do, you’ll be able to cut through the material much faster and more efficiently than normal.
