A lawn scarifier is similar to a lawnmower – in fact, many models look very similar. The key difference is that lawnmowers are designed to cut up, while scarifiers are specifically designed to pick debris up, be it grass cuttings or other materials such as dead leaves and moss. They are very useful when it comes to creating stunning, picturesque lawns, and can be used alongside other tools such as lawnmowers and lawn treatments for that perfect finishing look.

Scarifiers tend to be used less often than lawnmowers, only seeing operation around 2-5 times a year. This may affect your decision when it comes to buying the ideal model. There are 2 key types of scarifiers, and they are defined by how they are powered – there are electric scarifiers and petrol scarifiers. If you have a smaller lawn or garden, an electric model will be more than ideal, but they may lack the power to effectively cover larger gardens, whereas petrol alternatives will be more likely to excel.

Scarifier  also vary between models, with influential features including power, size, collection box size, and other factors like speed and weight. Scarifiers work best on flat lawns, with only a few models built for traversing more uneven terrain such as those found in landscaped gardens. The best way to ensure you’re getting the right model for you is to check the product page or manufacturer description for the features built into specific models.
