Grass trimmers are designed to tidy up lawn verges and other areas out of reach of your lawnmower. These awkward patches can still be maintained effectively by a grass trimmer, and there are multiple models to help tackle specific situations with greater efficiency.

The vast majority of modern grass trimmers are powered by battery packs that can be recharged repeatedly thanks to their lengthy lifespans. There are also corded grass trimmers which are ideal for smaller lawns, though offer the user less freedom to move.

Grass strimmer prices mostly vary due to the size and power of individual models. You’ll want a more powerful grass trimmer if you have plenty of uneven terrain in your garden, while a weaker alternative will be ideal for smaller gardens with a small number of verges and other areas that may be more difficult to reach with a lawnmower.

Safety is important with grass trimmers – the blades are extremely sharp and whilst many are designed not to cut skin, they can still cause damage.

Luckily, many of the accessories available for grass trimmers – beyond extra power packs and chargers – tend to focus on safety. Harnesses and additional straps allow you to secure your grass strimmer to your chest and/or shoulder more reliably, while you also may want to consider safety goggles or a visor to better protect your face from stray thorns or general debris.
