Also bear in mind the individual functionality of the actual furniture itself. If you plan to move your furniture around a lot, you’ll need to ensure it is lightweight and easy enough to carry, so plastic garden furniture may be the best choice. To prevent any costly damage, make sure to consider the specific material you choose and its suitability for your exterior environment. For unsheltered spaces exposed to the elements, plastic, wooden or aluminium garden furniture holds up very well and can be left out safely should an unexpected rainstorm interrupt your sunny afternoon.

Softwood furniture will typically need to be washed down with a wood-cleaning product yearly then stained with a wood treatment or have a reapplication of garden furniture paint. Plastic usually requires only a simple wash with soapy water to remove any grime or dirt. Most metal garden furniture will come set with a protective sealant coating to prevent rusting but can be restored with an extra treatment if needed after consistent use.
