Register Plates

Another important product to help make your chimney more efficient, the register plate is a flat metal piece that closes off the chimney at the base. It can resemble a metallic ceiling above your fireplace, and there are several different designs to suit the shapes and sizes of stoves and wood burner pipes. These components are installed while the stove is being added and is ideal for use when your chimney lacks the flue liner mentioned above.

Without a flue liner, there is an increased chance of smoke and fumes from your stove going partway up your chimney but then making their way back down, which can cause a myriad of problems, from an off-putting smell to making the air in your home more toxic and – in extreme cases – potentially deadly. While not quite as effective as a flexible flue liner, a register plate is ideal for preventing these fumes from leaving the chimney, and so they are eventually forced to rise upwards and out of the top.
